A database next to your app

Almost every product needs somewhere to keep its data. Rimbra databases run alongside your projects but outside your app, so a redeploy never touches your data. Pick an engine, connect it with an environment variable, and manage everything else from the same place you deploy.

Running a database yourself means installs, upgrades, disks filling up and backups nobody tested. Here you get a working database in a few clicks, with the tools to look after it built in.

Pick an engine

EngineVersionGood for
PostgreSQL16Most apps. Works with Prisma, Drizzle, Django, Rails and Laravel
MySQL8.4Laravel, WordPress and other PHP apps
Redis7Caching, sessions, queues and rate limits

Connected in one step

Open a project, choose Connect and pick the database. Rimbra adds its connection details as variables and your app reads them on the next deploy. The main variable is DATABASE_URL, or another name if your app expects one.

EngineVariables you get
PostgreSQLDATABASE_URL, PGHOST, PGPORT, PGUSER, PGPASSWORD, PGDATABASE
MySQLDATABASE_URL, MYSQL_URL and the host, port, user, password and database
RedisREDIS_URL, REDIS_HOST, REDIS_PORT, REDIS_PASSWORD

Look after it without another tool

  • Data: browse tables and rows, or Redis keys, and edit them in place.
  • Query: run SQL one statement at a time, or Redis commands in a console. Commands that could wipe the server are blocked.
  • Backups: take a full backup whenever you like and restore it in one step.
  • Overview and Logs: status, CPU and memory, connected projects and the server log.

Restores you can undo. Before a restore, Rimbra takes a safety backup of the current data, so you can go back if you picked the wrong one.

Your data stays where it is

Because the database is separate from your app, you can redeploy, roll forward or delete a project and the data stays put. Disconnecting a database removes the variable, not the data.

Questions

Can I connect from TablePlus or DBeaver?

Public connections from outside Rimbra are not open by default. Your apps on Rimbra connect directly, and the Data and Query tabs cover browsing and queries.

How many databases do I get?

Free includes 1. Launch includes 5, Pro 10 and Scale 30.

Does deleting a project delete its database?

No. Databases are their own resources. You delete one only from its own Settings.

Launch it on Rimbra.

Free to start. No card. Your first app is live in about a minute.
